Katelyn McGahey wins Volunteer Award

From the Volunteer Centre of St. Lawrence-Rideau:

Our next recipient of our Community Caring Award is Katelyn McGahey of Kemptville.

As a senior at St. Michaels Catholic High School Katelyn has been a key point person for all things student involvement. She has been a dedicated member of student council for her entire 4 years and is the most consistent and considerate member by far. She never says no to any task and is always quick to guide other students towards volunteering for events and groups. She has a bright personality which encourages others to join who might not regularly participate. She is often called upon by the faculty to speak at events and keep the students informed on what is going on and how to get involved. She is always positive despite any challenges she may face. She always models respect for peers in her interactions with them and reaches out to those around her who are experiencing difficulties. She has been a leader in Student Council, the Athletic Council and the Leadership Group-Building Leaders, House System Roll Out Captain.

Her creativity is her contagious spirit and that translates into motivation for others to volunteer and become involved. We know Katelyn will continue to take her volunteer leadership into her community and everything she does in her future.

Today we salute Katelyn McGahey and thank her for her dedication to Volunteerism in our communities
